Catania
Today we traveled by train from Palmero to Catania which is situated on the Ionian Coast. It too has seen better days, but Italy, in a general sense, is about the past. We have a hotel room that is very French in a baroque sort of way! We have had to do our own detective work today as the little girl at the reception desk was shy with help. We plan to go by bus to Taormina tomorrow, if we can get the details we need. I can't imagine how anyone travelled anywhere before the internet!
With every new place we go, we need to establish our bearings. To do this we decided to walk back down to the train station (we needed some clarification on our return to the mainland) and thought we might try to organise tickets for the bus tomorrow, but the siesta laid waste to our strategy. We are now having our own siesta!
